Nike solves the great Twitter debate: who actually follows whom?
Nike is always looking for innovative ways to bring to life their sporting experience to their fans. The Brand is the best at creating movements for its consumers that help them more deeply entrench sport in pop culture. This example from Buenos Aires is a perfect example.
The challenge was simple - how to bring the active Twitter world into the real world and make it an active experience. Their solution was ingenious - create a challenge that solved the debate of "who's actually following whom on Twitter?" Participants encourage their followers to run against them in the real world and the order of the participants finish in the race determines who is the follower and who is the person being followed.
What a great and simple game that helps Nike reinforce its essence with consumers while leveraging the discussion power, popularity, and core functionality of Twitter. It is also a beautiful program to further Nike's dominance with Running. See here. Brilliant.
